Cafe Society was opened in New York City in 1938 by a shoe salesman, Barney Josephson. It was the first racially integrated nightclub in NYC, located in Greenwich Village. Cafe Society welcomed jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, Nat King Cole and John Coltrane. 100% Cotton slouch. Lofted Cotton thread vintage embroidery.
